Our City of Colours 09/17/2011
It has been about a month that I have been involved with a grassroots project called "Our City of Colours". Our City of Colours' mission is to promote the visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people of colour in a variety of linguistic and cultural communities across the Metro Vancouver region. In our current scope, we are aiming to create and distribute an array of posters across the Metro Vancouver region, all of which are designed to portray individual and coupled LGBTQ-identified members of visible minorities with messaging that is positive and affirming of their experiences. It is an exciting time for all of us at Our City of Colours. So, stay tuned and follow us on facebook for more details of our activities and launch date. As Norooz signals the arrival of spring and rebirth of nature, let us at Art for Rights renew our commitment to eliminating violence, stigmatization, verbal abuse, and other forms of prejudice based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
