Our City of Colours 09/17/2011
It has been about a month that I have been involved with a grassroots project called "Our City of Colours". Our City of Colours' mission is to promote the visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people of colour in a variety of linguistic and cultural communities across the Metro Vancouver region. In our current scope, we are aiming to create and distribute an array of posters across the Metro Vancouver region, all of which are designed to portray individual and coupled LGBTQ-identified members of visible minorities with messaging that is positive and affirming of their experiences. It is an exciting time for all of us at Our City of Colours. So, stay tuned and follow us on facebook for more details of our activities and launch date. This is a very inspiring motion video made by Vancouver Film School students Aaron Chiesa, Toru Kageyama, Hendy Sukarya, and Lisa Temes. Find out more about this work here. The documentary film Covered has been pulled from TIFF by the filmmaker John Greyson in protest against TIFF’s Spotlight on Tel Aviv. Covered is about the cancellation of Sarajevo Queer Film Festival, and has been made available online by the director for the duration of the festival, that is till September 19, 2009. Read John Greyson’s open letter here. Watch Covered here. | Donate NowCategoriesAll ArchivesSeptember 2011 |
